Yesterday, the Prosecutor's Office of B&H filed a new indictment against Osman Mehmedagić, director of the Intelligence and Security Agency (ISA). An indictment was also filed against Selmo Cikotić, B&H Minister of Security, and Muriz Druškić, advisor to the ISA director.

The beginning of the process

These three are accused of committing the criminal offense of abuse of position or authority, and the indictment was forwarded to the Court of B&H, it was confirmed for "Avaz" from this judicial institution. They are accused in the "Security Checks" affair, which refers to embezzlement in connection with the appointment of members of the Commission for the Second Instance Resolution of the Security Checks for Police and Civil Servants.

This is a new indictment against Mehmedagić for abuse of office, and he is expected to start the trial on Friday. The indictment alleges that Mehmedagić and Druškić decided to establish control over the revocation of security licenses for security sector employees, not guided by the interests of their service, but by the personal and political interests of the ruling political option at the B&H institutions.

Druškić, as a representative of the ISA, and an employee of the Ministry of Security, Ismail Sarić, were appointed members of the Commission which decides on security clearance cases. They were supposed to make decisions in accordance with Mehmedagić's orders during their work in the commission, and to the detriment of the police officers whose license for access to classified information were revoked, the Prosecutor's Office states.

It was pointed out that Mehmedagić proposed to the Ministry of Security that Druškić should be delegated as a member of the Commission on behalf of ISA, although he knew that Druškić met the requirements for an old-age pension in March, which terminated his security clearance and access to classified information - "very secret".

Radončić's proposal

However, after the resignation of Fahrudin Radončić, then Minister of Security, these three annulled his proposal for the appointment of Sanjin Prašović and proposed Sarić, who at the time of his appointment did not meet the legally prescribed conditions for membership.

In the explanation of the Prosecutor's Office, Cikotić caused damage to the legally proposed candidate Prašović with his actions, but also disavowed the Council of Ministers and Chairman Zoran Tegeltija, without providing him with true information.

Prohibition of duties

The Prosecution also sent a motion to the Court to impose prohibitive measures after the indictment was confirmed. It was proposed that Mehmedagić should be banned from performing the duties of the ISA General Director, meeting with certain persons and contacting witnesses. It was proposed that Cikotić should be banned from performing the function of the Minister of Security, as well as a ban on meeting with witnesses. And the witnesses are all state ministers.
