The leader of the Alliance for a Better Future of BiH (Savez za bolju budućnost SBB), Fahrudin Radončić, addressed the media before continuing negotiations on changes to the BiH Election Law, which are being held in the BiH Parliament building.
Radončić said that the SDA and HDZ have been unsuccessfully negotiating for five or six years, and that international mediators and the SDA have demanded that pro-Bosnian parties, NIP, SBB, NES, be included in the negotiations, and that they have done so.
- We have two or three maximalist goals, to start with the Croatian corps, which has maximalist demands in the sense that they have a one hundred percent chance of getting a member of the Presidency, not to say from the HDZ.
You also have some of our demands regarding the reduction of the Houses of the People. You probably have sincere wishes and friends from the SDA not to change the Election Law or the CEC, so that the elections will be as before - with a lot of shortcomings, theft and certainty that Mr. Izetbegović will be a member of the Presidency.
You have Mr. Komšić who does not think that he should leave that position, and in such a situation we are negotiating today. What interests us, at least me from SBB, and I am convinced other colleagues from NIP, is the state, the interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosniaks and all three nations, and so we will have mediation that will surely end.
These talks have been going on for twelve years, so we will in next week or weeks ask for a reason, and I hope we will get even stronger international partners and I hope their more ultimate demands to the main actors in these negotiations and the main people responsible for the failure of those negotiations, and those are our friends from SDA and HDZ - said Radončić.

The President of the Alliance for a Better Future (Savez za bolju budućnost SBB), Fahrudin Radončić, posted a status on his social media commenting on the decision of BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić to visit Kosovo, which our country has not recognized. Radončić cites details from his professional biography related to Kosovo and the retroactive courage of individuals.

- As a journalist of the famous Zagreb weekly "Danas" in the period from 1988 until the siege of Sarajevo and engagement in the Army of RBiH in 1992, I published more than a hundred reports, interviews and analysis about how the police and army of Balkan executioner Slobodan Milošević torture Albanians in Kosovo.
Also, I was the only journalist in the world who managed to publish an interview with Azem Vlasi, from a difficult prison in which he was imprisoned for a year personally by war criminal Milošević.
Due to articles such as "Kosovo Avenue of Death" and the like, I was the subject of numerous KOS and police escorts, processing and lawsuits in the former Yugoslavia.
In addition, unforgivable for the then Belgrade, in 1990 I published a bestseller - a biography (published by "Danas", the book was printed in Venice, because no one was allowed to do so in the former Yugoslavia) about the then most famous European prisoner Adem Demaći.

The title of the book is "10,000 days in prison", after which a film was later made, and the book was created by Demaći reading my texts in prison and asking the editors specifically for me to write a book about him.
It was printed in an incredible 100,000 copies, and the selling price per piece was 29 German marks.
It is about an Albanian who spent as many as 30 (thirty!) years in Tito's prisons fighting for the Republic of Kosovo.
I still gladly lend a rare copy of that book to important people to read.
Still, why am I writing all this?
Only because of the really populist decision of Željko Komšić to visit Kosovo.

Just because, while at a time when many were cowardly silent, I bravely and lonely reported from the scene about how the unfortunate Albanian people are being terrorized, kept under curfew for months, about killings of children and students, today some would like to be retroactive heroes and to cheaply collect the votes of Bosniaks pre-election.
As the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, although I had invitations from my distinguished friends from Kosovo, I never thought about going on a private visit, respecting the fact that our country has not recognized Kosovo.
We did all, even police cooperation, exclusively with the help of international mediators.
By deciding to visit Kosovo, Željko Komšić, as a member of the BiH Presidency, is not helping anyone. The official policy of a state is binding on every one of its officials - no matter what we personally think about it - and especially on the head of that state!
In addition, there is no real chance that due to the specific internal procedures and veto rights of Serbian politicians, our country will soon recognize Kosovo.
Who is Komšić helping then?
Well, maybe himself and Milorad Dodik, to whom he is adding fuel for his secessionist policy in this way.
Komsic certainly does not help Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albanians, or Bosniaks, who elect him, or Croats from BiH, who do not recognize him as their representative.
I think that with my biography from 30 years ago related to the people of Kosovo, I can and must really say that to Komšić publicly.

In the wake of early elections and ahead of the formation of a new government, the Turkish Cypriot premier on Monday offered his resignation to Ersin Tatar, president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Faiz Sucuoglu offered his resignation online, as Tatar last week tested positive for COVID-19.
Tatar told Sucuoglu that his health will not interfere with efforts to form a new government and that on Tuesday he will give Sucuoglu, who leads the National Unity Party (UBP), the task of forming the government.
The ruling UBP came in first in the early elections held on Jan. 24, securing 24 seats in the 50-member parliament.
Tatar also wished success to all the deputies sworn into parliament earlier in the day and voiced hope for a stable government that will serve the people of Northern Cyprus.
Sucuoglu later said they offered the resignation of the UBP-DP coalition government that they formed last November.
Saying that the current government will continue to serve until a new government is formed, Sucuoglu added: "Our main focus is stability. We also stressed political and economic stability before the election."

According to election officials, the UBP got 39.54% of the vote in last month’s election, followed by the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) with 32.04%, Democrat Party (DP) with 7.41%, Rebirth Party (YDP) with 6.39%, and People's Party (HP) with 6.68%.

With the results, the UBP gets 24 seats in the 50-member parliament, and the CTP 18 seats, DP and HP three seats apiece, and YDP two seats.

Russian President Vladimir Putin gave assurances Monday following talks in Moscow with French President Emmanuel Macron that he would do “everything in his capacity to find acceptable mechanisms” to resolve geopolitical tensions over the security situation around Ukraine. 

In a joint news conference at the end of over six hours of talks, both Macron and Putin affirmed positive outcomes upon which further discussions could take place. The French president noted that the talks yielded a "convergence" which will enable them to move forward in the coming weeks and avoid any escalation in Ukraine. 
- The next few days will be decisive and involve lively discussions...We have the desire to work together to guarantee a new order of stability and security in Europe - Macron said. 
Putin also confirmed that he found a number of ideas and proposals which were “quite possible to make the basis of our further joint steps.” 
Macron is currently traveling to Moscow and Kyiv, Ukraine for talks amid fears of a military conflict at Europe’s eastern borders.
Russia has amassed an estimated 100,000 troops around Ukraine’s borders, raising concerns of an invasion. While Putin has dismissed those fears, he also claimed that Ukraine was playing a part in the military buildup by gathering troops around the contested Donbas region.
Both leaders agreed that the current tensions could result in a conflict that either side would like to avoid.
- We will do everything in our capacity to find acceptable mechanisms. These are complex issues with no easy solution - Putin said, adding Macron has agreed to discuss the developments upon his visit to Kyiv.
- We will have a phone talk after he visits Ukraine, and we will discuss what the Ukrainian leadership deems acceptable and we will devise further steps based on that - he noted.
Putin repeatedly underscored that he was against NATO’s eastward expansion through new members as it creates an existential threat to his country.
- If Ukraine becomes a part of NATO and if they decide to recover Crimea using military means, European countries will automatically be at war with Russia - he warned.
- The military capacities of NATO and Russia are incomparable. There will be no winners. We would like to avoid that, and that’s why Macron is here - he said.
He thanked Macron for his attempt to review the security issues in the East. Moscow needs “security guarantees" from NATO and Washington, including non-expansion of membership and non-deployment of lethal military infrastructure on the eastern borders.
Macron, on the other hand, is confident that France will play a key role in resolving the crisis and has linked its resolution with the announcement of his re-election in upcoming presidential elections in April.
He insisted that the implementation of the Minsk agreement signed between Kyiv and Moscow alone can prevail in the settlement of the crisis. ​​​​​​​ 
While Russia is accused of not keeping its part of the deal as it continues to support rebels fighting Ukrainian government troops in Donbas, Putin however deplored Ukraine for its “lack of political will” to implement the peace plan part of the agreement.

The former ambassador argued that planned economic sanctions on Moscow may not be enough to avert a possible Russian invasion in Ukraine.
- Changing the cost-benefit calculations of Kremlin’s political advisers would not be enough. We must change the calculations at the Russian military’s headquarters - he said, adding that this can only be achieved by bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Ischinger said Western countries should demonstrate their unity in support of Ukraine, and also make it clear to Russia that it would suffer “high costs” in case of a military attack.
Germany’s coalition government, headed by the center-left Social Democrats, has so far ruled out delivering lethal weapons to Ukraine, pointing to the country’s restrictive arms export policy and arguing that this could further escalate military tensions in the region.

Ukraine’s defense minister on Tuesday announced that the Ukrainian army will hold its own military drill at a time when Russia and Belarus will be holding their joint military exercises.

Speaking to the Ukraine-based ICTV channel, Oleksiy Reznikov said Russia and Belarus would hold exercises from Feb. 10 to 20.
Reznikov said Ukraine would also hold a parallel exercise in which the capabilities of Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), as well as Javelin and NLAW anti-tank systems, would be put to test.
The joint military exercise of Russia and Belarus, "Allied Resolve 202", will kick off on February 10. According to official statements from Russia, two S-400 air defense systems as well as Su-35 fighter jets and Pantsir-S anti-aircraft gun and missile systems have been dispatched to Belarus for exercises.

The works on the First Transversal have stopped, there have been no workers or machines on the construction site of this capital project in the Sarajevo Canton for a long time.
The brakes on this project are the reluctance and incompetence of the current SC Government, led by Edin Fort (Our Party – Naša stranka), and the Centar Municipality led by his party colleague Srđan Mandić. The latest example of the mischief and incompetence of the duo from Our Party is the unnecessary procrastination regarding the removal of the illegal shed!
The case was before the Municipal Court, and then the Court returned it to the Municipality of Centar for retrial, as the Municipality, when conducting a public hearing, did not cover all facilities, both legal and illegal. The case was returned to the Municipality on November 1st, but has not been returned to the Court to date.

The Directorate for Roads of Sarajevo Canton is the implementer of this project, they have also provided contractors - the Institute for the Construction of SC is supervising, and the FBiH Government is providing funds. But it got stuck in property relations. The problem arose in connection with the facility owned by the Šahinpašić family, which the current cantonal and municipal authorities are unable to resolve and continue the mission of the previous SC Government, which was led by Mario Nenadić. It is estimated that 23.5 million KM will be needed to resolve land issues on the section from Kranjčevićeva Street to Velešići, but now everything is stopped.
Thus, the generation project worth more than 300 million KM was stopped.

- Expropriation and seizure of land are done by the Municipality and the Institute for Construction. It is in our interest for this to end as soon as possible, because we could end up losing funds from the FBiH Government, given that everything is taking too long. We wrote urgencies to the Court, we did not know that the case was returned to the Municipality. The court informed us that they returned the case on November 1st and that they still do not have any feedback. The court has taken all cases concerning the First Transversal into priority resolution - said in a statement for "Avaz" Selmir Kovač, director of the Directorate for Roads of Sarajevo Canton.
SBB councilor in the Municipality of Centar Sulejman Memo Haljevac also reacted, saying that all the reluctance of the current government comes to light every day.

- The year of inaction of the municipal administration and the mayor of Centar Srđan Mandić showed us that we did not do a single centimeter on the First Transversal. But what to expect when the mayor is not able to do five steps in Buka Street, solve our landslides and the most basic things, from cleanliness onwards. I hope that this is not a game of the Prime Minister of SC Edin Forto and Srđan Mandić and a classic transfer of the ball. One shed prevents them from continuing the construction of a capital project such as the First Transversal - stated Haljevac.

Namely, the delegation of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by the advisor to the Minister Saša Kecman, today in Brussels, held a series of meetings with European Union officials, at which they discussed the migrant situation in BiH, current EU support and continued assistance to BiH institutions in managing this process.
These topics, very important for the future management of the migrant situation in BiH, were discussed with the Head of the Department in the Directorate-General for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement (DG NEAR) Vassilis Maragos, it was announced.
Also, meetings were held with representatives of the Department for Migration, Western Balkans and Regional Strategies.
During these meetings, it was pointed out that BiH has made a significant step forward in migration management in the past year, which was recognized in the latest EC report on BiH's progress in European integration.
BiH is expected to continue working in this direction, and EU support has been announced in migration management, strengthening the capacity of BiH institutions and combating illegal migration.
An important topic of these meetings was the organization of the return of migrants to their countries of origin, strengthening the capacity of state institutions and continuing to take over migration management from international organizations.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Monday that "additional room should still be given to the talks with Bosniak parties about changing the election law and that there was still time to reach an agreement."

- At the moment, we are trying to create an atmosphere that will raise the level of trust between Croats and Bosniaks - Plenković told reporters in Zagreb after a joint session of the presidencies of the HDZ organizations in Croatia and BiH. 
- We strive to be that constructive factor that raises that level of trust - he added.
Croatian media reports that at the end of January, negotiations between Croat and Bosniak parties in Neum on changing the election law, mediated by EU and US envoys, have practically failed.
- We will try to give a chance to the talks to raise that level of trust and to reach a solution that will enable quality functioning of BiH. I still opt for giving another chance to the talks, as we still have a lot of time ahead of us - said Plenković.
When asked by journalists about the possible support for the boycott of the elections if the election law is not changed, Plenković answered: "We are not in that phase of talks yet."
He reiterated the need to reach a solution "that will be acceptable to all and which would resolve the fundamental issue, which is to avoid electoral engineering and discrimination against Croats in BiH".
The Croatian Prime Minister also emphasized that the representatives of the Venice Commission at the negotiations in Neum stated that the proposals of the Croat side were in line with European standards.

Germany’s foreign minister has urged Moscow on Monday to take steps to de-escalate tensions, and warned that Russia will face severe political and economic sanctions if it attacks Ukraine.

She made the remarks ahead of her official talks in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, amid heightened tensions with Russia.&nbsp;Baerbock reaffirmed Germany’s strong support to the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.- As a partner of Ukraine in the EU, NATO and the G7, we categorically support the territorial integrity of the country and stand alongside the people - she stressed.

The Russian leader then praised Macron's efforts to resolve the Ukrainian issue and provide "equal security" in Europe.
- I see how much effort the current leadership of France and the president of France personally are making to resolve the crisis related to ensuring equal security in Europe for a serious historical perspective and to address issues that are closely related to the first part – with the resolution of the internal Ukrainian crisis in the southeast of the country - he said, referring to the conflict-torn Donbas region.

Macron said dialogue with Russia is "the principal way of achieving stability and security in Europe.”

- We have laid the foundation for a full and open dialogue in 2019. I think that the dialogue is more relevant now than ever. This dialogue is necessary only it will ensure security and stability on the European continent - he said.
Macron added that in his meeting with Putin he hopes to find answers to security issues for both Europe and Russia.
- I am glad that I will be able to discuss all the issues in detail, and we will be able to start searching for a collective answer that is useful for Russia and the whole of Europe. Such a response will help to avoid war and build stability, transparency, and trust for everyone - he said.

In accordance with the conclusions from Neum, the leader of SBB Fahrudin Radončić and the president of NIP Elmedin Konaković held talks with the leader of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović these days. Three climbers missing since Saturday afternoon were found dead on Sunday in Helmos mountain in the Peloponnese, the Greek fire brigade said, allegedly as a result of an avalanche. 

A search and rescue operation had been under way since late Saturday, with the participation of the fire brigade, a helicopter, drones and volunteers. 
The three climbers, aged 50-55 and considered experienced in ice climbing, according to media reports, set off on Saturday morning to climb near Kalavrita Ski Resort. 
When night fell, the ski resort, realising the trio had not returned as their car was still parked there, alerted the authorities.&nbsp;Weather conditions were good but rescuers saw signs of avalanche at the area where the bodies were found Sunday afternoon, around three kilometres (2 miles) away from the resort. 
- Aerial and ground searches under way from the early morning hours detected the traces of an avalanche, a very large one, at the base of the slope. Most likely, this avalanche swept away the climbers in their attempt to approach the desired route - Kalavrita Ski Resort said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Three climbers dead in Greece

Nine people died in three days of more than 100 avalanches rolling across Austria, authorities said Sunday. Most of the avalanches hit the western Tyrol region and Friday alone saw five fatalities, rescue services said. 
Police said that incident had claimed the lives of a group of Swedish skiers going off-piste with a mountain guide in the zone around Ischgl, near the Swiss border.
The monitor and four of the group were swept away with just one group member surviving. He managed to call for help and was airlifted out by helicopter.
Also Friday, a man aged 60 and his wife of 61 were engulfed while cross country skiing near the village of Auffach, Tyrol police said.
Saturday then saw an Austrian aged 58 killed at Schirmn near Innsbruck in an avalanche which injured four others. Further west, an experienced skier of 43 was killed in the popular Vorarlberg region as Austria saw exceptional quantities of snow fall going into and across the weekend.
Five winter sports enthusiasts were buried by snowfall in the major resort of Soelden but were all rescued.
- The past three days have seen some 100 avalanche-type incidents requiring 70 interventions - Tyroo regional authorities said Sunday, dubbing the situation "unprecedented" and warning of more to come.
