The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina has asked the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to extend the custody of Zijad Mutap and Hasan Dupovac, suspected of organized crime, in connection with the criminal offense of aiding and abetting the perpetrator and illegal mediation in the "Memić case".
The measure of detention is necessary in order to ensure the undisturbed conduct of the investigation in the case of the death of young man Dženan Memić, in February 2016, the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H announced.
Detention was requested due to the danger that by remaining at large, the suspects could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, and influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as the fact that their release would cause citizens' anxiety, the statement said.
Zijad Mutap is the father of the girl Alisa who was with Dženan at the time he was attacked in Ilidža, and Hasan Dupovac is the former head of the Traffic Investigation Department of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, investigating Prcić, found irrefutable evidence that Mehmedagić forged a diploma from the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which he submitted to the Commission for Supervision of the ISA, all with the aim of obtaining a new term at the head of this institution. By detaining Prcić and his associate Melisa Belkić-Mujkanović, the Court of B&amp;H confirmed the well-founded suspicion that this was an organized group. This is also stated in the motion for detention.
Prosecutor Oleg Čavka, as confirmed by the Court of B&amp;H, said that the Prosecutor's Office is also conducting a criminal investigation against Osman Mehmedagić, Denis Prcić, Melisa Belkić-Mujkanović and Emir Mujkanović in the "Diploma" affair. They are officially suspected of the criminal offenses of aiding and abetting the perpetrator after committing a criminal offense, abuse of position or authority, falsification of an official document and falsification or destruction of an official document.
As we have learned, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has even enclosed the record of the interrogation of the suspect Mehmedagić (from which it is evident that the suspect was allowed to present his defense), as well as the order to conduct an investigation (prosecutor's decision on September 8th, 2020).

But as the truth is coming to light and the Prosecution's evidence becomes irrefutable, Mehmedagić is increasingly in a panic and fear of prosecution and a new trial. Mehmedagić is knocking on many doors these days to stop the Prosecution's investigation. He has been seeking support for days and pressuring members of the B&amp;H High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) to help him.
On June 9th, the ISA leader held a meeting with the President and members of the HJPC, which was confirmed to us by this judicial institution.
As confirmed to us, this was a business meeting attended by the President of the HJPC Halil Lagumdžija, Vice President Sanela Gorušanović-Butigan and the Head of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the HJPC Marjana Popović.
- Vice President Gorušanović-Butigan, in order to avoid a potential conflict of interest, left the meeting at the moment when it was initially indicated that the conversation could concern disciplinary proceedings before the Commission in which she is a member - we were told yesterday from the HJPC .
We learn that Mehmedagić, the day after Prcić's detention, requested a new meeting with members of the HJPC. The day before yesterday, he allegedly asked to meet Lagumdžija again. This time through a mediator from the Court, but the meeting did not take place.

- There was no second meeting - Lagumdžija told us briefly, who recently stated in an interview with "Avaz" that he came to the HJPC to "change things for the better in the judiciary" and that he would not allow any external pressure on the HJPC.

Our ISA sources claim that Mehmedagić was in the HJPC with the aim of helping his friend Ranko Debevec, the president of the Court of B&amp;H, against whom disciplinary proceedings are being conducted, and at the same time to harm the Chief State Prosecutor Gordana Tadić.
He is urging for months for prosecutor Čavka to be suspended.
In addition, by going to the HJPC building and meeting with the leaders of this institution, Osmica obviously wanted to send a message that he allegedly has close contacts with the HJPC, and to let the judges and prosecutors prosecuting him and his close partners know that he can influence their decisions.
But all his intentions and benefits that he thought he would have by visiting the HJPC were blown away at the moment when Alisa Mutap was ordered into custody, and later the man who gave him an illegal diploma - Denis Prcić.
Also, in addition to Osmica, Debevec has even more reasons to fear losing his position, as he failed to lobby for a favorable situation for his partner and friend Mehmedagić, neither in the case of Alisa Mutap nor in the case of Prcić.
All this together suggests that professional judges and prosecutors turned their backs on the compromised Debevec and that they are working according to the strict rules of the profession.
And, most importantly, Osmica was sent a message that the president of the HJPC, Halil Lagumdžija, who is already slowly settling the situation in the B&amp;H judiciary, will not break under pressure either.

Muriz Memić after the hearing: There should be new arrests

A hearing was held today in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to extend the custody of Josip Barić, a police officer suspected of organized crime, and to hide and destroy evidence in the case of the murder of Dženan Memić.
According to the evidence of the Prosecutor's Office of B&amp;H, on the fateful night of February 8th, 2016, Barić did not take out the bloody sweater of Alisa Mutap, a girl who was with Memić on the night when he suffered fatal injuries.
Prosecutors Ćazim Hasanspahić and Dubravko Čampara explained to the Trial Chamber the motion to extend custody.
Hasanspahić stated that there are still reasons for Barić to remain in custody for another month because witnesses feel threatened and there are expert reports that have not yet been completed. 
On the other hand, Prosecutor Čampara stated that they are working on the identification of new suspects and their accomplices, and he emphasized that this is a complex case in which the institutions of the system covered up, faked and hid evidence.
- This was done by the MUP of Sarajevo Canton and the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton. Note that Zijad Mutap was in an organized criminal group superior to Barić. Witnesses are in fear. Yesterday we had a situation that they were making death threats to the father who is fighting for the truth about the death of his child - stated Čampara.
Barić also addressed the court and stated that he did not know why he was arrested because he had worked honestly and responsibly throughout his career.

<h2>The father is just looking for the truth</h2>

- How do you think the other witnesses will feel when they know that Dženan's father was threatened in this way. The one who threatened said that Muriz Memić would be killed if something happened to the suspects. This is a case that attracts a lot of public attention and because of which citizens do not trust the police and the prosecution. The father was just looking for truth and justice. It was not just a matter of the child suffering, but someone was watching him die and did nothing. If he knows something, let this prosecution be interested only in the truth - Čampara explained.
Barić's lawyer referred to the finding of the expert from Serbia, Ištvan Bodal, who, as she stated, said that it was a traffic accident in this case. However, the prosecutor clarified that no one officially hired that expert witness, nor did he have a summons from the court to make an expert report, so this is a finding that was not taken into consideration because it was incoherent and illegal.

Barić justified himself in court by saying that the bloody sweater was not excluded because it was a female person, and that should have been done by a female police officer.
Prosecutor Čampara replied that Barić had a clear order from the then prosecutor and now a witness in the case Meris Ćato to remove all clothes from Dženan and Alisa.- I did not keep a word from the prosecutor that night. I've been doing this my whole career. And now I do so. I have known Zijad Mutap for 30 years but I have not spoken to him since that night. My boss Hasan Dupovac ordered me to escort the Renault Clio to the place of expertise and that’s it. I think about all this at night and it is not clear to me why I am in custody - stated Barić.

German federal prosecutors said Monday they had arrested a Russian scientist accused of passing sensitive information from a German university to Moscow in return for cash.

They said in a statement the suspect, identified only as Ilnur N., had been taken into custody on Friday on suspicion of "working for a Russian secret service since early October 2020 at the latest".
Ilnur N. was employed until the time of his arrest as a research assistant for a natural sciences and technology department at an unnamed German university. 
Federal prosecutors believe he met at least three times with a member of Russian intelligence between October 2020 and June 2021. On two occasions he allegedly "passed on information from the university's dominion".
He is suspected of accepting cash payments in exchange for his services.
German authorities searched his home and workplace in the course of the arrest.
The suspect on Saturday appeared before a judge who remanded him in custody.
The case comes at a time of highly strained relations between Russia and Germany on a number of fronts including the ongoing detention of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, who received treatment in Berlin after a near-fatal poisoning.
Chancellor Angela Merkel's government has also worked to maintain a sanctions regime over Moscow's annexation of the Crimean peninsula, the scene of ongoing fighting between pro-Russia separatists and local forces.&nbsp;However despite international criticism, Berlin has forged ahead with plans to finish the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, set to double natural gas supplies from Russia to Germany.
